2017-18 rehearsals

Rehearsals take place on Tuesdays from 7.30-9.45 pm.

Summer 2018

Note special arrangements for rehearsals in summer term 2018

  • The rehearsals on 15 and 22 May and 5,12 and 19 June will be at Chatsworth Baptist Church, Chatsworth Way, West Norwood, SE27 9HN. The entrance to use is the one in Chatsworth Way (not Idmiston Road).
  • The doors will be locked after the start of the rehearsal. One of us will be there to let people in between 7.15 and 7.30, but latecomers will have to ring the door bell and hope we can hear them, or make an arrangement with a buddy.
  • Parking is in local roads and you should allow a bit of time to find a space.
  • No need to bring your own cup for tea, as cups (ceramic) are provided
  • It may be worth bringing a music stand light if you have one.

The rehearsal on 26 June and on the day of the concert (30 June) will be at All Saints, West Dulwich.

Car parking change: use the school car park behind the school – entrance at left-hand side of the school (nearest to the South Circular Road). Upon arrival, press the access button and the gate will be opened. The spaces immediately in front of the school should be left for those with heavy instruments or experiencing mobility difficulties.

Please try to avoid using the neighbouring streets since local residents cannot park in the evenings when all on-street places are taken-up by those visiting the school.

parts: a message from the librarians

This is how the librarians try to ensure that parts are available each week for players and don't get lost:

  • The librarians prepare the music folders before the start of term so that each desk has a full set of parts. If any parts are not present then an explanatory note is included in the folder.

  • Each music folder is labeled as to which desk it is for and the parts in the folder are similarly identified. The folder and the music are the responsibility of the player(s) assigned to that specific desk.

  • Spare music, when there is any, is usually only extra string parts; occasionally double wind parts are provided.

Any spare music is not generally available at the rehearsal venue but can be made available by prior arrangement or collected after a rehearsal – contact Tess Crilly (violin) in person or email

leaving and rejoining the orchestra

Sometimes members are unable to take part in the orchestra for a period of time but would like to return in the future. If you find yourself in this situation you should inform your section leader, or the Secretary, as soon as possible so that alternative arrangements can be made.
